In 1948 Dr. Malcolm Harris and Mr. R. Tyler Bland uncovered the ancient
gravesite on Poropotancke Creek, of John Lewis. It read;
"Here lieth interred the body of John Lewis Born in
Monmouth Shire died the 21st of August 1657 aged 63 years The anagram
of his name I shew no ill"
Engraved thereon, a Coat of Arms, and within the first
quarter a dragon's head erased vert, holding in its mouth a sinister hand
gules.
