Charles Lewis was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.  He is not mentioned in Sorley's work but is mentioned in "Jefferson's Nephews, A Frontier Tragedy".  He died while on active duty.  Col. Charles L. Lewis (BBA) was notified of Charles' death via a letter from Thomas Jefferson which is published as a part of Jefferson's memoirs at the Massachusetts Historical Society, Boston.  Charles left no issue.
